Taegeuk Yuk Jang

Taegeuk Yuk Jang Symbol (Kahm) Taegeuk Yuk Jang represents the symbol Kahm — the water. Kahm symbolizes the origin of life with the ultimate flexibility and a smooth, ceaseless flow. This form should be performed with techniques that flow smoothly like the water.

In addition to the techniques in Taegeuk Il Jang through Taegeuk O Jang, this form introduces a few new techniques:
  • Single knife hand high blocks
  • Roundhouse kicks
  • Outward forearm high block
  • Ready stance
  • Breathing technique
  • Palm blocks
Taegeuk Yuk Jang also involves complex foot positions; special attention is required after the two roundhouse kicks.

Move 8 A Right outward forearm high block, right front stance
Move 8 B Left middle punch, right front stance
Move 9 A Left front kick
Move 9 B Right middle punch, left front stance
Move 10 Two-side low block, ready stance
Move 11 Left single knife hand high block, right front stance
Move 12 A Left roundhouse kick (Kihup)
